MISSION

I support birthing people and their families in all of their intersecting identities.

As a black queer woman, I seek to understand the unique challenges that folks of the global majority, LGBTQ families, and other historically underrepresented groups face. My mission is to empower and uplift people with an authentic and affirming model of care that meets their individual needs.

What this means to me in practice:

Neutral language: leading with words such as a birthing person, parent(s), human-milk feeding, and sibling(s) that allow space for all the humans who make up a family.
Representation: Having images and videos that reflect the folks I work with who are giving birth and raising babies.
Continued learning: Expanding my own beliefs, values and knowledge — through own voices accounts, research articles, and continuing education via others with dedicated expertise.
Teamwork: Asking for the help of other competent providers by referring families to their care for community support.

doula support is more essential than ever.

How I am protecting your family

Vaccination

I received the second dose of the Moderna Vaccine in February 2021.

I had my first booster shot in October 2021 and second booster in September of 2022.

Backup doula

In the event that I am unwell, I have an experienced backup doula to attend births in my place. Learn more about her here.

Limited Client capacity

I am taking a limited number of families to reduce exposure risk.

Distancing measures

I wear a mask when around small babies as I offer postpartum care. Every family differs in what they feel comfortable with. I am happy to do whatever makes folks feel comfortable and secure in my care.

Hospital Birth

Currently certified doulas are permitted in all VT hospitals. I have always and continue to support hospital births.

Homebirth

Many birthing people are opting for home births at this time. I have always and continue to support home births.
